Hardscape Design - The "Bones" Of An Aquascape

Aquariums can be found just about anywhere, from your friend's home to the local restaurant you dine at on a weekly basis.  But an aquarium that is eye-catching with a long lasting impression is far and few.  When it comes to planted tanks and aquascapes, the overall hardscape design is the precedence as the placement of the wood and/or stones will set the aesthetics of the aquascape once the planting comes around and further down the line, once the tank establishes and the plants grow out and balances out.

Our teammate Patrick is super meticulous when it comes to hardscape selection and placement.  He has designed many of our store display aquascapes at both Pet Zone and Hakkai and always emphasizes that the overall layout of both the substrate in conjunction with the hardscape placement plays a huge role in the long-term apperance of an aquascape.  This is why Patrick likes to refer to the hardscape design as the "bones" of an aquascape.
