Bacopa lanigera, commonly known as Hairy Bacopa or Woolly Bacopa, is a beautiful freshwater aquarium stem plant with bright green leaves and a soft, textured appearance. Great for planted tanks, aquascapes, shrimp tanks, and nano aquariums.

Bacopa lanigera, also known as Hairy Bacopa, Woolly Bacopa, Bacopa, Water Hyssop, or Waterhyssop, is a unique freshwater aquarium stem plant that adds soft green texture and natural movement to planted aquariums.

Unlike some of the more commonly seen Bacopa species in the aquarium hobby, Bacopa lanigera has a slightly more textured look, with bright green foliage and a fuller stem plant appearance when grown under good lighting. It works beautifully in midground or background areas of aquascapes and can be trimmed and replanted to create a bushier, fuller layout over time.

This plant is a great choice for aquascapers who want a clean green stem plant that is a little less common than standard Bacopa varieties. It can be used in nature aquariums, Dutch-style aquascapes, shrimp tanks, nano tanks, and community planted aquariums.

Care Guide

Bacopa lanigera is best planted directly into aquarium substrate or aquasoil. Space each stem slightly apart to allow light and water flow to reach the lower portions of the plant. With regular trimming, Bacopa lanigera can become fuller and bushier over time.

For best results, provide stable aquarium conditions, good lighting, and a quality planted tank substrate or liquid fertilizer routine. CO2 injection is not required, but it can help the plant grow more compact, lush, and vibrant.

Like many live aquarium plants, Bacopa lanigera may experience some transition or melting after being introduced to a new aquarium, especially if it was grown emersed. Once adapted, new submerged growth should begin under proper care.
