Rare juvenile wild bettas from the Betta unimaculata complex, offered at approximately 0.5 inch. In the hobby these are commonly sold as Betta antuta, though reputable references also list them as Betta sp. “Antuta/Bulungan,” an apparently undescribed mouthbrooding betta from Bulungan / North Kalimantan, Borneo.

These Juvenile Betta antuta are a hard-to-find wild-type betta prized by collectors for their sleek shape, subtle earthy juvenile tones, and the impressive adult form they develop with age. Your fish are currently about half an inch, making them ideal for growers looking to raise out a truly uncommon species. Based on your photos, these are very young juveniles with developing finnage and early body patterning.

For accuracy, this fish is often marketed as Betta antuta, but hobby references commonly identify it as Betta sp. “Antuta/Bulungan”, a likely undescribed member of the Betta unimaculata complex from Bulungan, North Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo. It is recognized as a paternal mouthbrooder and is associated with flowing highland stream habitats rather than stagnant blackwater setups.

As they mature, these fish can develop into a larger wild betta, with hobby references placing adult size around 10–12 cm and recommending cooler to moderate temperatures of about 21–27°C, pH 5.5–7.5, and soft to moderately soft water.
