Roseline Shark

The Roseline Shark, also known as Denison Barb, is a striking freshwater fish prized for its vibrant colors, active swimming, and peaceful nature. Native to fast flowing rivers in India, this fish is a popular choice for community aquariums where it can thrive in a well maintained, spacious environment. Its distinctive red stripe running from the nose through the eye to the tail, along with a black line near the tail, makes it a standout centerpiece in any tank.

Roseline Sharks typically grow to around 6 to 8 inches in captivity, though they can reach larger sizes in the wild. They are schooling fish and feel most comfortable in groups of at least five to six, which helps reduce stress and encourages natural behavior. Their sleek, torpedo shaped body allows them to swim actively, so a long tank with open swimming areas is highly recommended.

A well maintained aquarium with clean, oxygen rich water is essential for Roseline Sharks. They prefer slightly acidic to neutral water, moderate temperature, and a tank size of at least 55 gallons for a small group. Adding live plants, driftwood, and hiding spots creates a natural environment and provides security, although they also need open space to swim freely.

Roseline Sharks are peaceful and compatible with other medium sized, non aggressive fish. Ideal tank mates include tetras, rasboras, barbs, gouramis, and other community species. Avoid keeping them with overly aggressive or very large predatory fish that may stress them.

Feeding Roseline Sharks is easy, as they are omnivores. A varied diet of high quality flakes, pellets, frozen foods like bloodworms, brine shrimp, and occasional vegetable matter helps maintain their vibrant colors and overall health. They are active foragers and appreciate food spread throughout the tank.

Breeding Roseline Sharks in captivity is difficult and rarely achieved in home aquariums, so most fish available are wild caught or farm bred. Providing excellent water quality, a healthy diet, and a stress free environment ensures they thrive and display their natural beauty.

The Roseline Shark is an excellent choice for aquarists seeking a colorful, active, and peaceful freshwater fish. With proper care, spacious swimming areas, and a well maintained aquarium, these stunning fish bring energy, movement, and vivid color to any community tank.
