Panda Moor Goldfish

Posted by Max Gandara on on 1st Oct 2025

The Panda Moor Goldfish is a striking fancy goldfish variety, instantly recognizable by its black-and-white “panda-like” coloration and large, protruding telescope eyes. This unique combination of traits makes it one of the most sought-after goldfish for aquarists who enjoy ornamental fish with bold appearances and charming personalities.

Like other fancy goldfish, the Panda Moor has a rounded, egg-shaped body and flowing fins that add to its graceful swimming style. Its contrasting black and white patterns vary from fish to fish, making each individual visually unique. The telescope eyes typically begin developing as the fish matures, giving them their signature look.

Panda Moor Goldfish are peaceful and thrive in community aquariums with other fancy goldfish varieties, such as Orandas, Ryukins, or Black Moors. They should not be housed with faster, more aggressive fish, as their vision can be limited due to their protruding eyes, which makes them slower when competing for food.

These goldfish prefer cooler water compared to tropical species, and they do best in spacious aquariums with gentle filtration and plenty of open swimming space. Smooth decorations and soft substrate are recommended to help prevent injury to their delicate eyes.

Feeding is straightforward, as Panda Moors are omnivorous and will readily accept high-quality goldfish pellets, flakes, and a variety of fresh or frozen foods like brine shrimp, bloodworms, and blanched vegetables.

Basic Care Guidelines:

* Tank size: Minimum 20 gallons for one, larger for groups
* Temperature: 65°F – 75°F
* pH: 6.5 – 7.5
* Temperament: Peaceful, social, best with other fancy goldfish
* Diet: Omnivorous – pellets, flakes, veggies, and protein-rich foods

The Panda Moor Goldfish is not just a beautiful fish but also a delightful companion that brings personality and charm to the aquarium. With their elegant black-and-white coloring, gentle temperament, and unique eye structure, they make a wonderful addition for goldfish enthusiasts seeking something truly special.
