Special Agent, Kuhli Loach

Why are we making a special feature on kuhli loaches?

Why not!! There are countless benefits to adding these little oddballs to your tank, but we'll only name a few.
The Kuhli loach is a bottom cleaner. While they may not eat algae, they are going to eat other detritus in your tank. Since they do scavenge through substrate, use a finer grain sand so they don't get cut by rougher grains!

They aren't technically schooling, but will be more comfortable in a group.

In terms of temperment, they're a peaceful, easygoing fish that is more active at night. They'll do great with other peaceful fish such as tetras and danios while you should avoid putting them with more aggressive fish like cichlids.

Although we've never seen them eat small or baby shrimp, this phenomenon has been reported in the hobby- avoid this by keeping them well fed with any sinking food (they prefer live!)
Kuhli loaches don't eat plants so you can add them to your planted tank with no worries! They typically only grow to 3 inches in captivity and have a very low bioload. Combine this with the fact that they can live up to 10 years in the right conditions, you have yourself a very reliable fish!!
