Why Choose the Leopard Ctenopoma?

The Leopard Ctenopoma is ideal for aquarists seeking something unique and primitive-looking. Its stealthy movements and ability to “stalk” prey make it a captivating addition to semi-aggressive or species-specific tanks. Despite its predatory nature, it's typically peaceful with similarly sized tankmates and thrives in a naturalistic setup.

Add a touch of the wild Congo to your aquarium with the beautiful and elusive Leopard Ctenopoma — a true gem for the experienced fishkeeper.

  • Leopard Ctenopoma: The leopard bush fish is a great beginner oddball fish. They are a labyrinth lung fish similar to the Gourami and are able to go up air from the surface. These fish originate from the Congo river basin of Africa and grow to about 6 to 8 inches in size. They are a predator fish that feeds on smaller fish and crustaceans. They do well in community tanks with other Gourami‘s, the Silver dollar, Cory cats and plecos. Care should be taken for anything that can fit into the bush fish mouth as it may become a meal.

Arrived so quickly - perfect and adorable! After one day of settling in they were eagerly feeding. During this time of pandemic, when we don't venture out, I will be ordering from Petzone again! Thank you!
