Emerald Dwarf Rasbora (Celestichthys erythromicron)

The Emerald Dwarf Rasbora is a small, peaceful, and stunning freshwater fish known for its shimmering green body and vibrant red fins. Native to Southeast Asia, including streams in Borneo and Sumatra, this species is a favorite among aquarists for nano tanks and community aquariums.

Emerald Dwarf Rasboras grow to about 1 inch in length and are best kept in schools of at least 6 to 10 individuals. They are active swimmers and feel safest in groups, displaying natural schooling behavior that adds movement and color to the aquarium.

These fish thrive in well-planted tanks with gentle water flow and subdued lighting. Adding floating plants and hiding spots helps replicate their natural habitat and reduces stress. A soft substrate is recommended but not strictly necessary.

Emerald Dwarf Rasboras prefer water temperatures between 74°F and 80°F, with a slightly acidic to neutral pH of 6.0 to 7.0. Maintaining clean, stable water conditions is important, as they are sensitive to poor water quality.

They are omnivores and will accept high-quality micro pellets, flakes, and small frozen or live foods such as daphnia, baby brine shrimp, and microworms. A varied diet ensures their colors remain vibrant and supports healthy growth.

These peaceful fish are compatible with other small, non-aggressive species such as small tetras, pygmy corydoras, and other rasboras. Avoid housing them with larger or aggressive fish that could intimidate or eat them.

The Emerald Dwarf Rasbora is hardy, colorful, and full of energy, making it a perfect choice for nano tanks and planted aquariums. With proper care, they can live up to 4 years, providing an eye-catching and lively addition to the community tank.
