Nymphaea Tiger Lotus

Nymphaea Tiger Lotus is a spectacular aquarium plant prized for its large, heart-shaped leaves that display beautiful red and green mottling. Native to Africa, this plant is highly versatile and can be grown both submerged and emersed. Its striking colors and unique patterns make it one of the most popular focal plants in aquascaping.
Tiger Lotus grows from a bulb and develops strong roots in nutrient-rich substrates. It thrives in medium to high lighting and grows faster with CO₂ supplementation, though it can adapt to low-tech aquariums as well. The plant often sends up floating leaves that reach the water surface, creating shade below and adding a natural pond-like effect. To maintain a more compact, submerged form, aquarists can regularly trim floating leaves to encourage underwater growth.
In aquascaping, Tiger Lotus is frequently used as a centerpiece because of its bold coloration and dramatic presence. It contrasts beautifully with green carpeting plants and hardscape elements, adding both height and texture to layouts. Its large leaves also provide shelter for fish and shrimp. With its easy adaptability and striking appearance, Nymphaea Tiger Lotus is an excellent choice for aquarists looking to add a vibrant, eye-catching feature to their aquarium.
